Dinas level twice but can’t find a winner.

The Murch ground was in splendid condition for this top of the bottom showdown between Dinas and Garden Village. Both teams desperate to take 3 points to help them further themselves from the relegation zone. Garden Village currently 6 points ahead of the Rooks with Risca United sitting between the two.

The first half saw some neat football, with little between the two teams. Garden Village broke the deadlock 30 minutes in with some well-worked play finished with a low drilled shot. Dinas increased their possession and wrestled themselves back into the game and in the 46th minute were rewarded with an equaliser through Myles Case who burst through the defence and slotted home under the Villages keeper – 1-1 half time.

The second half saw no let up in the fierce tempo with both teams bobbing and weaving each others attacks. One of these explosive exchanges saw the Dinas keeper come off worse for wear. However the injured keeper could have done little about the rocket shot from Garden Village’s forward whose shot found its target from outside the box 15 minutes from time. Dinas looked out for the count with 15 minutes left but showed remarkable composure and claimed the possession, pushing a tiring Garden Village. The increased pressure saw the Rooks awarded a penalty 10 minutes later. The penalty was coolly dispatched 2-2. Not wanting to lose the momentum, the Rooks pressed hard for the win in the remaining 5 minutes plus additional time – but to no avail.

The game finished 2- all with the teams sharing the points. The next fixture will see the red and blacks travel away to Aberbargoed Buds in search of some more crucial points.
